Overview:

Regardless of whether it is system administration, security professional or developer, one of the main concerns is Object Manager (Ob) namespace. Ob is essentially a sub-system that has the role of managing resources in Windows, resources that are represented as logical objects and that reside in a namespace, for easier categorization.
Winobj
is a tiny tool built on Windows NT API and that has the role of accessing and displaying the Ob namespace data. While it can be argued that the tool plays the exact role of Windows SDK, the truth is that the SDK packs numerous bugs that affect the accuracy of the information provided.
According to the developer, the program can recognize and hence, highlight more different types of objects. In addition, users can not only view, but also edit object security information via native NT editors and they open device objects.
The overall idea behind the tool is that it can manage any NT objects and, because of this role, it can keep namespaces for operating system components, Win32 programs or device drivers. Since all these objects are stored, it permits administrators to perform queries and possibly detect potential problems. The NT API ensures various routines that allow user-mode programs to look into and check out the status of the objects stored.
